While I was running a track 5K today, I developed the strangest visualization, but it worked for me.
I was getting a bit weary and still a mile short of the 3.1 for the 5K and looked down at my feet (as I often do) while running. I also noticed, my hands pumping in front of my...you know...arms bent and slightly punching forward. Then I imagined that each hand was attached to each foot by a string like a marionette and a puppet.
So that with each hand pump forward, my foot came along as if it had no choice. And since it is less tiring to keep those hands pumping forward, it seemed less tiring to keep those legs pumping forward to. I spent a couple laps just imagining that I was my own puppet animating my legs with my pumping arms.
Silly...but worked. This likely isn't the silliest thing any of us has done to get better and better.

Whatever works to get the job done! Way to go!!
ReplyDeleteKeep focused!
Great visual! Once I imagined myself being towed by a rope around my waist...whatever helps, right?
ReplyDeleteI know people who run like that.... it's like swimming in the air.
ReplyDeleteI like the visualizing, too...works for millions... why not me!?
I like this whole idea.
