Comments Potentially Changing for GB&B

I've been doing some research and while I think BLOGGER has made some improvements in their comments engine, it is still a pain to interact with followers and their comments.  Especially since it isn't clear that people are notified about replies made to their comments.

Regardless, I'm also starting to feel that Facebook will likely remain the 800 pound social networking gorilla as It seems easier to get notifications on things and manage them in one place.

I'm contemplating converting my comments engine to Facebook...I'm not sure what that would really mean to my followers who use Google accounts.

So...let me know...if you could only comment with your FB account (or it seems to offer other third party options, but not a Blogger account) would you leave me in the dust?

  1. I suppose I would be a little nervous about leaving comments via Facebook, b/c of the insecurity Facebook has. That and the majority of my friends don't know I have a blog (and I'm okay with that!), and I wouldn't want them to see the comments I make, just b/c of the private topics for me.

    1. A valid point...from what I understand you have an option of posting the comment to your wall or not. And perhaps I'm not using the "Subscribe by email" sufficiently in Blogger enough to know if the blog owner is responding to my comments. Arggg...I want a better and consistent way of interacting with commenters!

      Thanks for the feedback!

    1. Just sent the friend request! I think its time to recognize that GB&B isn't going to become a household name, but hopefully a continued group of "friends" and I guess I shouldn't have much to hide from them or them from me.

      Something I'm still noodling on.

  3. Hmm...wouldn't leave you in the dust. But would it mean that I'd have to see your post on FB? Because I miss a lot of FB posts.

    1. No...in this case, the GB&B blog would remain, but instead of the Blogger comment engine, it would be a FB comment engine. And from what I understand, the commenters still have a choice whether to post a comment to their wall or not. So...you'd still follow me through reader or however you find me, but you'd comment via your FB id...and I could respond via FB as well. Seems like a better integration, but I'm not officially sold. I'm spending more and more time in FB and it seems to make sense for me, though it may not make sense for all my followers...lots to think about still.

  4. I'm not "out" on FB with my blog, so I have the same reservations as Lori Lynn.

  5. My work system blocks anything facebook related so It's very likely that if you switch I would no longer be able to post here.

  6. Hmmm... this is a toughie. I'm in the same group as some other people above. My work blocks FB so wouldn't be able to comment (since work is where I do my blog writing and catch up... don't tell) and I keep my blog topics separate from my true FB account because my friends/family don't care to read about my weight-loss journey every day. I have a pseudo FB account I use for my blog so I could follow you there... but again I go back to the problem of not having access to it often.
